  most people, i believe, forced themselves to give an answer.

  i knew many elders and servants over the years being counseled because they rarely answered.. funny thing....my mom who is 88 cries if she doesn't give a comment.

  I remembered being embarassed when my younger brother would comment. I recall during the evolution study book him commenting on some strange theory of how God used the dinosaurs to form the earth and then how paleontologist evented new species. Then thinking back my seven year old brother made more sense than most GB new light.

  I have some free time on my hand and been learning spanish. But I still have quite amount of free time available. I would like to learn animation similar to what the society produces (or sub contracts out) with the caleb videos. I have about 10-15 hours a week available to invest in this hobby. Could anyone help me with suggestion of software that would be advisable for a beginner? My ideal platform is one that has a free or low price for home base use with the option to upgrade to commerical use with a reasonable price (something under $200 US dollars). I eventually would like to use the software I learn to use to have no copyright restriction once upgraded to commerical package. Also if you have any suggestions to websites on the topic that would help also.

  I remember when I was in 8th grade and would have Wierd Al's casette tapes. I had these young girls tease me and say I should listen to real musicians like Milli Vanilli. lol it turns out I was the one listening to a true musician.

  Is this a new "This Generation" or not?

  as i see it, and i am absolutely open to contradiction, the wts appears to be giving another new meaning to this generation.

  this time the term means all of his anointed followers, including his immediate disciples.

  I just began reading it yesterday. I've been out since around 99. I thought the book was outdated and written in the early 80's. I was surprised it has been revised up to as recently as 2004. Too bad Franz is dead to give his comments on jw.org and the current path the org is taking.

  Why do so many refer to Elders as "window washers"?

  i know the society is against higher education and the pursuit of careers but in my experience the elders in the various congregations i attended had good careers.

  in fact most had their own businesses.

  thinking back of the boe when i was a teenager this is what they had as a career: two were respected carpenters who owned a construction business, one a high school teacher(he was the po), one sold insurance and was a lawyer, one owned a landscaping business and also hired sisters to clean office buildings and other accounts he had, one was retired, and the last was a janitor for the school board.

  My KH was populated by brothers who were not functionally literate.

  I suspect you may be of an older generation because I never experienced literacy issues in any congregation. Critical thinking or the lack of was the major issue in my observations. I do remember the brothers/sisters saying if you read four years of Awake! and Watchtower it was equivalent to a two year college degree. I wonder if this was just some localized opinion or if that was the feeling throughout the organization.

  I have grave doubts about lawyers from any decent law school being JWs.

  It's not too difficult to get a law degree now. There are several private colleges that will accept your money regardless of your LSAT scores or college gpa. This particular Elder got his degree from NSU, www.nova.edu/ . I'm not stating NOVA is subpar but it isn't a first tier college. I also know of a brother who received his law degree from Stetson in Florida. I agree these may not be considered decent law schools but they did pass the Florida Bar and are practicing lawyers. I wouldn't hire them.

  There were several other threads on this "window washer" topic recently (do a search and read many interesting comments). No slur on anybody who does this for a living.

  I neglected to use the search and will do as you suggest.

  How long before the Wt fully embraces the internet.

  the way things are going i believe that wt will start encouraging its members to start setting up web sites.

  i can certainly see them loosening their stand on it.

  the example i will give is the video showing the dancing in the kh, and jw defender which i believe is wt in hiding.

  They have had local need talks recently in some congregations and from CO's on warning witnesses from joining jw dating sites or setting up their own sites.

  The Society takes its ques from Machiavelli and Goebbels. I doubt they will give the green light for their followers to setup any sites that competes with the jw.org

  has really made me wonder how i ever got involved with the watchtower.

  it basically comes down to me just wanting to believe this delusional belief system.

  millions of people wasting their lives in this way is incredible.
